Their is a comprehensive mission to steal away the public sidewalk from the public domain. Not only that, their is a billigerent attack targeted at independent and disadvantaged people by using sidewalk laws - but these city ordinances are illegal!

The very same Honolulu sidewalk rules (fake-laws) used to violate the rights of artists and buskers on the public sidewalks are used to violate the rights of homeless (houseless) as well as activists and anybody with belongings or a message.

Supporters of DeOccupy Honolulu who have been camped at Thomas Square on the corner of Beretania and Ward Streets since November 05, 2011 have been raided over 70 times by the city blitz in less than two years.

REPEAL Bill 7, Bill 54, Bill 39. Park curfew and Ordinance 10-5

While SWS represents sidewalk artists and advances free speech protection on Waikiki sidewalks we are very aware of general regional and global suppression - we know how we fit into "the big picture" and how we are affected.

We are aware of the U.S. Federal court clallenge; DeOccupy Honolulu v. City and County of Honolulu regarding city sidewalk charges of search and seizure, and due process. We are aware of Hawaiian Kingdom law and the issues relating to the 117 year occupation by the U.S.A. We are aware of the 1993 US Apology Law 103-150 signed by President W. Clinton admitting conspiracy in the overthrow. We know the current cases related to the military occupation. These claims are being heard at the White House, the United nations, the World Court (The Hague) and the International Criminal Court ICC (Genève).

We are aware of Kānāwai Māmalahoe - King Kamahamaha I: Law of the Splintered Paddle. ref:Wikipedia

Police need a warrant - correct!

So why does the Chief of Police assign gangs of police to stand stand guard at "sweep" operations by Department of Engineering and Facility Maintainence, and Department of Parks and Recreation?? These are city maintainance workers somehow charged with the authority of search, seziure and destruction of personal property.

Department of Facility Maintainance -Truck at city homeless raid (DeOccupy HonoluluUnder new laws, Bill 54, 39, 7, Ordinance 10-5, the city confiscates and destroys personal property using Facility workers and Parks and Reccreation workers under the protection of Police guard.

Raids arbitrarily declaring belongings on the sidewalk a "nuisance" and using Bills 54 and 7 cost TAX PAYERS $15K a pop says Mayor Caldwell!! DeOccupy and homeless people at Thomas Square have been raided 70 times (once and twice a week) for almost 2 years straight. Bill 54 had required a 24 hour notice warning but under the updated version, Bill 7 the city workers can take and destroy immediately regardless of objections or claims by the owner/s or their caretaker representative at the scene.

Bill 54 was introduced by Councilmember Taulsi Gabbard in 2011. It passed with only one opposed; Nestor Garcier who was concerned about cost. Before the vote was taken the Mayor's Office, namely Lori Nishimura, reassured the Councilmembers that opperations would add nothing additional to the budget because community health and services would gather the belongings during their normal hours.

PROTECTING COMMUNITY HOUSING RIGHTS

CITY TREATMENT OF HOMELESS IS A COLD AND BROKEN PLACE.

"YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU GOT TIL ITs GONE". AS THINGS STAND RIGHT NOW INDIVIDUALS and FAMILIES are
ONE PINK-SLIP AWAY from APPRECIATING THE LOVE BEHIND THEIR FOREPARENT's SACRIFICE. BECAUSE WHEN YOU'RE ON THE SIDEWALK HAVING THE CORPORATE CITY TRASH YOU AND YOUR BELONGINGS ONE's GREAT FOREPARENTS, MAKING SURE EVERYONE IS HOUSED AND HAS THE RIGHT OF FREE SPEECH, IS HEART-FELT.
